In this post we offer a 1662 edition of Poems by Mrs. Katherine Philips, a text that captures the singular voice of one of the seventeenth-century’s most intriguing female authors. Philips (1631 / 2-1664) carved out a literary identity amid Restoration turbulence, translating French tragedies, composing verse of passionate friendship, and navigating royalist currents with dexterity. Her celebrated poems on female companionship and interior devotion lend a powerful, often overlooked dimension to early modern print culture.
